Re:amaze and GDPR: What This Means For You

Last Updated on April 23, 2018 by David

As many of you may have heard, EU’s new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) mandate will be going into effect full force on May 25th, 2018. In short, the new EU GDPR replaces the Data Protection Directive 95/46/EC and was designed to synchronize data privacy laws throughout Europe, to protect and empower all EU citizens data privacy and to reshape the way organizations across the region approach data privacy.

Here at Re:amaze, we are committed to protecting your privacy, your data privacy, and your customers’ data privacy to the utmost standards accepted and agreed upon by the laws set up by the countries in which we operate. We have updated our Terms of Service (TOS), Privacy Policy, as well as adding a new Data Processing Addendum (DPA) to further reflect the latest changes in data privacy laws and regulation (discussed below).

If you’re unfamiliar with the GDPR, we’ve put together a quick debriefer to help you along. The GDPR is about:

  • Data consent.
  • As a citizen of EU, you have the right to tell a business if you want them to keep your data or not.
  • Businesses that don’t just take in data but also send need to send it to other businesses (via integrations) need to comply to new standards set forth by the GDPR. When there are multiple levels of service agreements, consent becomes complex and the GDPR helps streamline this process.
  • The Privacy Policy determines if a business can take data directly from its customers and the new Re:amaze Data Processing Addendum (DPA) is added to the Privacy Policy to discuss how businesses can process data through other 3rd parties.
  • If you reside in the EU, you must agree to the new Re:amaze DPA in addition to the Privacy Policy, effective May 25th, 2018.

Going forward, your Re:amaze services will be governed by our updated:
