Enforcing Data Policy with Re:amaze Assistant

Numerous countries around the world must abide by local governing laws when it comes to data handling for online business activity. In order to business online, businesses must be able to control how customer data is treated and handled after it has experienced a lifecycle in its data warehouses.

For example, customers may request that you delete their personal identifiable data on a one-off basis. You may also need to automatically delete customers’ personal identifiable data including conversations after 30 days have elapsed based on local laws.

The good news is that Re:amaze has all the necessary tools for you to enforce these data policies!

There are numerous ways to delete customer data from Re:amaze:

Deleting the customer’s contact profile and anonymizing data

The contact profile can be deleted in its entirety while keeping conversation histories intact. Doing so will preserve the content of the messages but change the contact profile to “Someone”. This is useful in situations where you need to keep data on hand for reporting and referencing purposes without jeopardizing sensitive data being linked to any one individual.

Deleting the customer’s data attributes

A customer’s personally identifiable data attributes may be deleted permanently from Re:amaze after they’ve been added manually or programmatically through the API. You can delete individual data attribute by clicking on the X next to each attribute.

Deleting the customer’s conversations history manually

A customer’s conversations can be deleted permanently after they have been archived. There are two ways to do this:

  1. You can open a conversation, click on “Archive” and then “Delete”
  2. You can go to the main inbox’s “Archived” filter and search for the customer’s name, email address, or phone number. Select all conversations you’d like to delete and click bulk “Delete”.
  3. For social media conversations, customer data should be deleted from the social media platform natively.

Deleting the customer’s conversation history automatically

Each Re:amaze channel has an assistant feature. The assistant feature can help you automatically delete conversations after an X number of days have elapsed.

The assistant feature works for all channels and can be used as a reliable way of staggering deletions of customer data in regular intervals.
